LEIMEI Co., Ltd. (the “Company”) establishes this Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) regarding the handling of users' personal information in connection with the services provided on this website (the “Services”).

Article 1: Personal Information

“Personal information” means personal information as defined by Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information: information about a living individual that can identify that individual through a name, date of birth, address, telephone number, contact details or other descriptions contained in it, as well as data concerning appearance, fingerprints or voiceprints, health insurance insurer numbers and other information that can identify an individual on its own (personal identification information).

Article 2: Collection of Personal Information

When users register, the Company may ask for personal information such as their name, date of birth, address, telephone number, email address, bank account number, credit card number and driver's license number. The Company may also collect transaction and payment records containing users' personal information from its partners, including information providers, advertisers and advertising distribution partners (“Partners”).

Article 3: Purposes of Collection and Use

The Company collects and uses personal information for the following purposes:

  • Providing and operating the Company's services
  • Responding to inquiries, including verifying identity
  • Emailing users about new features, updates and campaigns for services they use, and other services offered by the Company
  • Providing maintenance information, important notices and other necessary communications
  • Identifying users who violate the Terms of Use or misuse the Services, and restricting or suspending their access
  • Enabling users to view, change or delete their registered information and view their usage status
  • Billing users for paid services
  • Purposes incidental to those listed above

Article 4: Changes to Purposes of Use

The Company will change a purpose of use only when the new purpose can reasonably be considered related to the original purpose. If a purpose is changed, the Company will notify users by its prescribed method or publish the new purpose on this website.

Article 5: Provision to Third Parties

The Company will not provide personal information to third parties without prior user consent except in the following cases, or where permitted by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other laws:

  • When necessary to protect a person's life, body or property and obtaining consent is difficult
  • When particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound development of children and obtaining consent is difficult
  • When cooperation with a national or local government body, or its contractor, is necessary for legally prescribed duties and obtaining consent could impede those duties
  • When the Company has notified or published the following matters in advance and filed a notification with the Personal Information Protection Commission: that purposes of use include third-party provision; the data items to be provided; the means or method of provision; that provision will cease at the individual's request; and the method for accepting such requests

Regardless of the preceding provisions, recipients are not considered third parties in the following cases:

  • When the Company entrusts all or part of the handling of personal information to a contractor to the extent necessary to achieve its purposes of use
  • When personal information is transferred through a merger or other business succession
  • When personal information is used jointly with specified parties and the individual has been notified in advance, or can readily access information, about the joint use, the data items, the parties involved, their purposes of use and the name of the person or entity responsible for managing the information

Article 6: Disclosure

However, it may withhold all or part of the information in the cases below and will notify the individual without delay if it decides not to disclose it. • When disclosure could harm the life, body, property or other rights or interests of the individual or a third party
  • When disclosure could significantly hinder the proper conduct of the Company's business
  • When disclosure would violate other laws

Notwithstanding the preceding provisions, information other than personal information, such as history and attribute information, will generally not be disclosed.

Article 7: Correction and Deletion

If personal information held by the Company is incorrect, users may request correction, addition or deletion (“Corrections”) under the Company's prescribed procedures. If the Company determines that a request should be fulfilled, it will make the Corrections without delay. It will notify the user without delay when it makes Corrections or decides not to do so.

Article 8: Suspension of Use

If an individual requests suspension of use or deletion (“Suspension”) because their information is being used beyond its stated purposes or was acquired improperly, the Company will conduct the necessary investigation without delay. If the investigation shows that the request should be fulfilled, the Company will carry out the Suspension without delay. It will notify the individual without delay when it carries out the Suspension or decides not to do so. Notwithstanding the preceding two provisions, if Suspension would involve significant expense or is otherwise difficult, the Company will take alternative measures where these can protect the individual's rights and interests.
